Services and Repairs

Apart from selling bikes, Switched on Cycles also designs, repairs, services and customizes electric bikes in Canberra and the region. In fact, our servicing and ability to keep you on the road for years to come is why many of our customers like us. We try to repair your bike when we can, rather than sell you a new one. For example, we still carry replacement batteries and parts for the bikes we first sold in 2008!

Our mechanical services are provided by Gregg Berry and Alex McNee, from the Natural Engine Shop. In Alex's words:

"The Natural Engine Speed Shop is a bike business that specialises in cycling solutions. From general repairs, to customisation of your favourite steed, the aim is to find solutions to make your cycling an enjoyable experience rather than a battle against an ill fitting or not for purpose machine. We also specialise in recumbents, folding bikes and cargo bikes as part of presenting solutions that you may not easily find in your local bike shop. We have over 12 years experience in the mainstream bike industry and both the extensive mechanical experience and knowledge of the industry to allow us to find solutions to your cycling needs.

Working with Switched on Cycles is a natural extension to our work - as well as assisting with the mechanical needs of their dedicated E-bikes, the capacity to work together to deliver retrofits of electric assist motors to existing bikes provides yet another potential cycling solution not commonly available in the market place".

Our electrical services, such as testing batteries and diagnosing electrical faults are provided by Chris Drury, e-bike rider (Chris originally came to us as a customer) and retired CSIRO technician (these guys are great at problem solving).

Please note, if you are wanting an e-bike electrical fault repaired and it is not one of our bikes, in the first instance, we recommend that you contact the original bike shop or supplier you brought the bike from. If they can not help, we may be able to help you depending on the availability of compatible parts. Some e-bikes use different parts to ours, such as motors or electrical controllers, and while we may be able to diagnose your problem, we may not be able to source the right part (and thus fix your bike, and we don't like to disappoint).

We do mechanical servicing and repairs, such as fixing punctures, but again, recommend that you take the bike to a normal bike shop if that's where you brought it from, as different bike dealers carry the parts for the brands which they sell and we don't carry parts for brands we don't sell.

We can and will source common mechanical, interchangeable and popular, good quality parts that we use on our own bikes such as Shimano gears,  Tektro brakes and pads, suspension seat posts, pedals, tyres etc.
